Fertility/Estrus Parameters
The Estrus parameters are used to define when animals are showing signs of heat, and when they should be included in the Animals for insemination report.
To access and set the Estrus parameters:
-
In the Folder List, click Fertility.
-
Click Estrus Parameters.
The following options open:
Note: Separate parameter values are provided for heifers and for cows of all other lactations.

Description |
---|---|
Heat indication threshold |
Sets the heat deviation threshold. When animals' heat deviation rates exceed this threshold, they are automatically included in the Animals for insemination report. |
Heat indication threshold for pregnant animals |
Sets the heat deviation threshold for pregnant animals. When a pregnant animal's heat deviation rate exceeds this threshold, she is automatically included in the Suspected abortion report. |
Mn. days after breeding or heat |
These two parameters define a "normal heat cycle". Unless changed, a normal heat cycle takes place every 18 to 24 days. An animal that shows signs of heat 18 to 24 days following a previous heat or insemination event, is most likely in heat, and the heat detection was not caused by a different event. |
Max days after breeding or heat |
|
Production rate deviation (%) |
A production rate deviation beyond the threshold is displayed blue in the Animals for insemination report. |
Voluntary Waiting Period days |
These parameters define the minimum number of days that must pass before an animal is included in the Animals for insemination report, as follows:
|
and less than # days after last insemination |
