Milking Equipment Malfunctions Report

Unusual cow behavior in the milking stall provides an indication of a problem with milking devices. Analysis of milking time, kick offs, and multiple attachments in the session indicates the cows' comfort or stress levels. Patterns that show stressed cow behavior in the same stall, point to a problem with the milking equipment. When these behavioral indicators occur in multiple stalls on the same parlor side, it usually indicates a problem with the milking, or an issue with the parlor.

Red - Indicates a fault in the most recently ended session.

Yellow - Indicates faults that occurred in one of the previous sessions, but not the last sessions that ended.

Green - Indicates no faults occurred.

The upper table in the report details the stalls where atypical behavior or milk letdown were detected, and indicates the faults that may be causing the behavior:

Column

Description

Stall

Displays the stall number; stalls with the most recent faults are listed first in the table.

Milked

Displays the number of cows milked in the stall during the milking session.

High AMT

Displays milking that takes longer than expected. Possible reasons for High AMT include vacuum, pulsation, and liner problems.

Kick Offs

Displays when clusters are removed before the milking has ended.

fault symbol indicates that the stall has a significant number of nervous cows that have stopped milk letdown or kicked off the cluster.

Possible causes for kick-offs include electricity leakage, grounding or stray voltage.*

Multiple Attachments

Similar to multiple kick-offs, multiple attachments may indicate restless cows, resulting milk holdup. Such phenomenon may be caused by the same reasons leading to many kick-offs.*

*Note: Multiple attach and kick-offs indicate cows are struggling to complete milking because something is bothering them. These are different symptoms of the same problem, and may be caused by other environmental issues, such as increased agitation caused by insects may result in similar animal behavior.

Lower detailed report: Clicking on a row in the top table opens the detailed report that displays the persistency of the fault in the selected milking point per session, for the last six sessions. If any of the above persists for 3 sessions or more, and the cause of problem could not be identified, call your local dealer for service.
